They stood next to each other, fingers entwined, trying to recapture all that had been. He spotted his wife walking towards them with his boss. Shirish let go of the hand of the woman he loved and relinquished her to her husband not realizing his boss was doing the same at that exact moment
Outstanding!
Hey Janhvi,
Haven’t seen you here or a new post from you in some time. How’re you doing? Enjoying your vacations, I hope
. Thanks, as always for your kind words
Hello di. My exams start from 15th, so my disappearance. Now, before you tell me to go study, am off myself.
Good luck with your exams, do well!!
I come here today with a request, :p (ok formality over, now to being myself)…
Can I use this story of your’s to write about something I have been wanting to at my blog……
Sure, go ahead, it’s all yours!!
Thank you!
hmmm Wow.. why dont they just bit the bullet and accept they need to change the partners and then live happily ever after ..
a lovely little story …
See, they could do that and in your ending of the story you can imagine they did just that
Sounds poetic, but undermines the sanctity of marriage a wee bit… For all those believers is marriage anyway…
Hey Nikhil,
There could be so many interpretations to this, in every one of those there is a tinge of infidelity, though. The characters have cheated by way of thought or emotion if not physically. I’d like to think that they were saying their final goodbyes in the above-mentioned situation. That’s my interpretation, though. For all you know, someone might conclude that they handed over the wives to the respective husbands after setting up a tryst for the future
What a waste of time? Come on M, you can do way better than this. You are awesome at keeping the suspense until the very end, even with your 55 word fictions. This one sucked, excuse my bluntness. I felt a disgust at the end. I know you will say, it’s how you perceive blah blah. This Shirish guy seems to be top class coward and a pig. Both the ladies in the story shouldn’t be with him for sure.
My, you are vehement, aren’t you? How do you know Shirish was the one who decided to end the relationship? It could have been the girl or do you not consider her capable of making the decision?
First off, kudos to you for allowing to post such critical comment. That’s commendable quality in a blogger. Secondly, you took the time to respond back and make this anonymous poster think even more. I’m not a big believer in staying in a marriage if one finds love in someone else. The one small thing that pissed me off was, Shirish letting go the women’s hand on seeing his wife with his boss. He was not man enough to come clean with his wife, first. Secondly he is not man enough to stay by the woman he loves. Like one of your reader suggested, they could have chosen their new partners, but I think Shirish being a coward, wasn’t good enough for this new women too. Sorry if I came through vehement. I’m used to reading some awesome and trilling 55 fictions from you, but this one was just mediocre by M standards. I don’t care much for this Shirish character, even if there is a Subhash Ghai or RGV back drop story to it.
PS: BTW I’m wait for you to publish your first fiction book.
I am willing to grant you that Shirish is a coward. Doesn’t it take all kinds to make the world? Sorry I disappointed with this one. Will try to do better the next time. But hey, at least you commented if only by way of criticism. One bad 55 was worth it, if it got you to comment
Have you seen the film “Dus Kahaniyan”? The first kahaani is somewhat like this. Loved this one too, Meera
Oh the one where the wife is sleeping with another guy and the husband is sleeping with his secretary and that one piece of jewellery reveals all
Oh yes, I love that story. But my favorite one in that whole series was the Amrita Singh one directed by Gulzar’s daughter. Now that would have made a great 55
